Marmot Basin Resort is 21km (20-30 minutes drive) south of the town of Jasper in the Jasper National Park of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. There are shuttle services between Jasper Hotels and the ski resort.

The ski/ snowboarding season at Castle Mountain Resort typically runs from November to May, offering ample time for skiing and snowboarding. The resort’s official website provides accurate opening and closing dates.

The snow is real in Marmot Basin Resort. The resort is located in the Canadian Rockies, which receives an average of 450 cm of snowfall per year.

However, Marmot Basin does also use snow-making machines to supplement the natural snowfall. This is necessary to ensure that there is enough snow for skiing and snowboarding even during years with below-average snowfall.

On-mountain lodging is not available at Marmot Basin. The primary accommodation hub is located 21 kilometers away in the town of Jasper. Once a pivotal point for the fur trade and subsequently a railway town, Jasper now serves as the central base for the National Park, welcoming numerous visitors during the summer months. In the winter, the atmosphere becomes more serene, and Jasper, Alberta, takes on a charming small-town ambiance.

Marmot Basin offers on-hill child care at the Little Rascals Nursery for children aged 19 months and older while parents take a break and enjoy the slopes. The Staff are licensed by Social Services and required to follow strict regulations regarding all drop-in centers.
