Sunshine Village - Directory

Sunshine Village is located within the Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies, 15km southwest of the town of Banff Canada. It’s 1.5 hour west of Calgary by road. The resort base is in the province of Alberta, but some parts of the resort are in British Columbia.

The ski/ snowboarding season at Banff Sunshine Village typically runs from November to May, providing an extended skiing and snowboarding window. The resort’s official website offers accurate opening and closing dates.

The snow is real in Sunshine Village and the resort does not rely heavily on snowmaking machines. Sunshine operates only four snow machines to build the snowpack in the lower ski-out and the Ski & Snowboard School beginner areas in the early season. Once a base is developed, the snowmakers are turned off and let nature run its course to provide Canada’s Best Snow.

The resort is accessible by car or shuttle services from the town of Banff, which is the gateway to Banff National Park. Calgary International Airport is the nearest major airport, and it’s about a 1.5 to 2-hour drive from there to Banff.

Sunshine Village Ski Resort has childcare centers on-site called Tiny Tiger Daycare which is located at the main ski lodge area and caters to children ages 18 months and older. The Ski & Play area features a magic carpet and is a good place to practice the first curves on skis.
