Furano is located in central Hokkaido, Japan about 1 hour drive south of Asahikawa and 2.5 hours drive northeast of Sapporo and Chitose airport. Standing so centrally located means Furano is an excellent base from which to explore some of the lesser-known central Hokkaido resorts such as Kamui, Tomamu, Sahoro, and Asahidake.

The ski season in Furano typically runs from December to April, but the exact dates can vary depending on snowfall and weather conditions
