Mount Cheeseman Ski Area is located near the town of Springfield, approximately an hour and a half (111km) from Christchurch in the Craigieburn Range of New Zealand’s South Island.

The ski/ snowboarding season typically runs from June to October, but the exact dates can vary depending on snowfall and weather conditions.

The snow in Mount Cheeseman is real and the average snowfall can vary from year to year due to weather patterns and other factors.

Mt Cheeseman does not provide any shuttle service from the road to the ski field, you need to either have your own vehicle or have pre-arranged shuttle service. Find out more.

The Ski Area has two T-bar lifts and one learner tow.

It is named after Thomas Frederic Cheeseman, a botanist who was the curator of the Auckland Museum and a recipient of the Linnean Medal.

Snowline Lodge can accommodate 68 people, and nearby Forest Lodge can accommodate 38 people.
