Temple Basin - Snow cams

Temple Basin is one of the oldest club-run ski areas and it is located in the heart of the Southern Alps, near Arthur’s Pass Village and about 90 minutes drive from Christchurch.

The ski/ snowboarding season typically runs from July to early October, but the exact dates can vary based on snow conditions.

The snow in Temple Basin is real and the average snowfall can vary from year to year due to weather patterns and other factors.

Access to the car park is via State Highway 73, a 1-2 hour drive from Greymouth on the west coast or Christchurch on the east. Temple Basin is unique in that there is no vehicle access to the top. Instead, a 40-50 minute walk from the car park is needed to reach the ski area lodges.  Find out more.
