Aletsch Arena - Weather forecast

Aletsch Arena ski resort is located in Valais (Wallis), merely 10km from the capital city of Brig in the canton. Fiesch is the closest town to Aletsch Arena. . Geneva (GVA) international airport is positioned 220km to the west of Betten, a locality at the base of Aletsch Arena’s finest village, Bettmeralp, and it takes approximately 3½ hours by train during the winter season.  Zurich Airport (ZRH) is approximately a 3¼-hour train journey to Betten via Brig.

The ski/ snowboarding season at Aletsch Arena typically runs from early December – late April, but the exact dates can vary depending on snowfall and weather conditions.

The snow in Aletsch Arena, like in most alpine ski resorts, is real snow. While the resort does have an extensive artificial snow-making system with snow cannons to supplement natural snowfall, the majority of the snow on the slopes is indeed real snow. The region typically receives natural snowfall during the winter months, and the resort’s snow-making capabilities help ensure consistent and reliable snow cover throughout the ski season, even when there may be lower levels of natural snow. So, visitors can enjoy both natural and artificial snow while skiing in Aletsch Arena.

Using Public Transport: Travel via the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway (MGBahn) from Brig or Göschenen to reach the valley stations of Mörel, Betten, and Fiesch.

By Car: If you’re driving, head from Brig or Göschenen to the valley stations of Mörel, Betten, and Fiesch. Please park your vehicle at the valley stations since the Aletsch Arena plateau is designated as a car-free zone.

It allows parents to enjoy some worry-free skiing or other activities while knowing their children are well taken care of in a convenient location. Prior registration is required to use the service from Tuesday through Friday.
