While some of Leysin's pistes benefit from snowmaking, the majority relies on natural snowfall. The nearest airport to Leysin is in Geneva, with a transfer time of approximately 2 hours. The Leysin ski resort is positioned above the village of Leysin, less than a 30-minute train ride from the Rhone Valley town of Aigle. The primary airport is Geneva (GVA), 1½ hours west of the resort by road, taking a scenic route around Lac Leman (Lake Geneva) and through Montreux.
The recommended way to reach Leysin from Geneva Airport is by train. Direct trains to Aigle (direction Brig) leave from Geneva airport hourly, and the journey takes approximately 1⅓ hours. From Aigle, regional trains connect to Leysin.
